More about Nature Quests

“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order". (John Burroughs)

There are moments in life when our innermost being demands attention. This may arrive as a quiet but persistent whisper that permeates daily thoughts, for example a sense that 'something needs to change'; or as a wake-up call from our psyche that takes us by surprise. We notice this through dreamscapes, waking thoughts, creative practices, body changes or decision making.

Drawing on ancient traditions including Native American 'vision quests', Hindu, Islamic, Christian, Celtic pilgrimages, nature quests offer us a framework to respond to this calling. It invites us to journey and vision out on the land, giving time and space to contemplate questions and life-moments of significance.

Creating a dedicated space to dream and vision is a precious and profound gift that we can give ourselves. Nature quests in this form have been designed by me to fit into our everyday lives. They take place for a half or whole day, in person, and are tailored to you.

Nature quests are suitable for individuals, small groups (partners, friends, family) and for businesses wanting to enquire more deeply into their foundations, vision and mission. They are designed as introductory experiences that are accessible and inclusive. Unlike psychotherapy, they are not suitable for addressing (mental health) crisis.

The structure of the day begins at the fire circle to hone, surface and clarify the quest theme. A solo and intuitive walk in nature follows and the day completes with a re-grouping and sharing at the fire circle. I will use coaching and facilitative principles to listen actively and guide the quest experience.

A quest is held in nature and provides a confidential space to explore questions and life-moments of significance.

Is a nature quest for me?

I have spent many years running adventures for children, woodland retreats and corporate strategy in nature away days. This along with a breadth of spiritual teachings and nature practice experiences has inspired the quest offering.

Buddhist, nature awareness teachings, the Lost Border vision-quest lineage, medicine ceremonies, shamanic teachings and the ecopsychology movement are amongst my influences.

This confluence of wisdom and embodied practice provides the ground and holding for me to facilitate your quest.

Whilst I have personally cherished making extended time for retreats, a nature quest is designed to be accessible (half/whole day). Sometimes just a few hours of well intentioned time can be enough to open a gateway.

A warm-hearted welcome awaits youAs a white woman in my 50's, I am working to make my practice inclusive of difference and commonality, including race, age, religion, sexuality, class, ableism and gender.
