More about Psychotherapy

"Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know"  (Pema Chödrön)

To be human is to experience joy and exhilaration as well difficulty and despair. Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to make a meaningful and warm-hearted connection with a therapist at a moment in life of crisis or deep reflection.

Psychotherapy can transform difficulties and navigate life transitions. It can feel hard to reach out for help but when we do, something deep in us shifts and a doorway for healing opens.

Therapy offers an in-depth journey of personal discovery. It draws upon the qualities of curiosity and self-kindness to help orientate towards health and fulfilment.

It also helps to identify heart-felt dreams and everyday resources. Through this it is also possible to learn how to bring greater flow and inspiration into day to day life.

Many aspects of life may cause overwhelm and confusion, such as the state of the world, changes in circumstances or coping with trauma. It is also natural at times to feel stuck and question self identity and life direction. For all of us, there are times when receiving support from another person is beneficial.

Therapy provides a dedicated and confidential space to work through difficulties, ignite creativity and inquire more deeply into questions about purpose and meaning.

It is often, but not exclusively, long term & weekly. It may be helpful for:

  • Life transitions

  • Key life stages, parenthood, (peri)menopause, retirement...

  • Bereavement and grief

  • Managing and celebrating difference and diversity

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Abuse and trauma

  • Living with a medical diagnosis or condition

  • Managing stress with mindfulness

  • Spiritual inquiry

  • Creative exploration and practice

  • Building resilience, resource and relaxation techniques

  • Orientating to joy, health and heart-felt desire

Is psychotherapy for me?

Being able to practice in close connection to the changing seasons is integral to the way I work. It helps to keep the therapeutic process grounded and it also resources me.

We might be joined by a bird or a surprise gust of wind. Holding this awareness as well as individual process is a constant reminder of being part of something bigger.

As a Core Process psychotherapist my practice is underpinned by mindfulness and a depth of understanding in trauma. This dynamic and empowering way to work brings practical tools for coping with difficulty as well as space to be with things just as they are.

I also work with imagination, visualisation, movement, body experience, storytelling, creativity, nature awareness, walking and other therapeutic devices.

A warm-hearted welcome awaits youAs a white woman in my 50's, I am working to make my practice inclusive of difference and commonality including race, age, religion, sexuality, class, ableism and gender.
